The cast and directors huddle up before the final show to perform what had become a pre-show ritual for the cast. They all link arms, kneel down, and start chanting “Energy, energy, energy” as they slowly bounce to their feet, the chant growing louder and louder, before they explode into cheers on their feet. And so ends The Wedding Singer at North Central College. After months of planning, eight full weeks of rehearsal, and four performances, the show is history. I’ll be posting more photos in the coming days from show weekend, but today marks the end of the story that is “The Wedding Singer at NCC.”
I’d like to thank the Wedding Singer senior directing team for letting me into the rehearsal process, and also the cast and crew for putting up with my constant presence at rehearsals and shows.
Special thanks goes out to Tim Whitney, Danielle Clark and Gordon Wong for loaning me equipment.
And finally, I thank you, the readers, for following along on this 8-week adventure. I heard from all kinds of people who were reading the blog from all over the country and even the world. Thanks for your encouragement and your attention.

P.S. You can see all of the videos from the show I’ve posted on YouTube right here.
Assistant stage manager Heather Motz is in charge of keeping everyone backstage during pre-show and intermission aware of how much time is left before the curtains open. As she walks around backstage, she will shout “30 minutes!” and whoever is around will reply, “Thank you, 30!” Motz will do this at 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 5 minutes, and then ‘Places’ when it’s time for everyone to get on stage and set to go. The props department keeps a list of all of the props needed for each scene in the show, who is responsible for bringing them on and off stage, and from which side of the stage. The cast and crew make a habit of checking the list during the show so as not to forget anything. (Photo: Chad Comello)
